Blue Valley school counselors are licensed educators who improve student success for all students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. School counselors are vital members of the education team and maximize student success. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, social and emotional development, and career readiness, ensuring today’s students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

How do you see your school counselor?

Students or parents can stop by, email, call counselors, or fill out a form in the student services offices. Students can refer themselves, parents can refer their student, friends that know a student needs something can refer a student, and teachers or other staff members can refer students.

Examples of reasons students would come to the counselor include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Having trouble with school/grades

  • Conflict with friends
  • Just need someone to listen
  • Talk about your future/career planning
  • Problems at home or getting along with family
  • Feeling scared or worried about a situation
  • Share and celebrate positive things
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Friendship issues
  • Grief, loss and divorce
  • Bullying and harassment
  • Social/Emotional Issues (depression, anxiety, etc.)
  • Foster self-awareness, acceptance, and diversity
